Dr. Sean Rogers is an assistant professor of employment relations, human resources, and law in the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, and a Fellow at the Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures. He previously held faculty appointments at New Mexico State University and the University of New Mexico, and was a Research Fellow at the U.S. Army Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences. Before becoming a full-time academic, Rogers held professional and managerial positions in the airline and logistics industries, and spent nine years in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Professor Rogers utilizes HR and management theories to study volunteerism, with a particular focus on how volunteer management practices can enhance the volunteer experience and positively impact organization-level outcomes (such as patient satisfaction scores in hospitals). His research has been published or is forthcoming in several peer-reviewed journals, including: Hospital Topics, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Industrial Relations Journal, Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science and Practice, Journal of Health Organization and Management, and Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly.
Dr. Rogers is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). He earned his Ph.D. in human resources and industrial relations from Rutgers University, a master’s degree in human resource development from the University of Illinois, and B.S. and MBA degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
