CIHF has compiled video recordings of industry leaders from a variety of CIHF’s compelling seminars, panels, individual interviews, and keynotes addresses. The videos are available via Cornell University’s CornellCast and cover a range of topics including senior living, hospitality, healthcare, and informed design.

Additionally, CIHF has recorded the talks given by guest speakers in the course Hospitality, Health, and Design Industry Immersion. The speakers share valuable insight on topics including: critical industry-related issues, potential career paths, and qualities conducive to successful business leadership. Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures takes holistic view of health

To address modern health care challenges, the College of Human Ecology and the School of Hotel Administration (SHA) have formed the Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures (CIHF), believed to be the world’s first academic center to combine hospitality, design, health policy and management. Led by Rohit Verma, the institute aims to improve service in health care, wellness and senior living through academia and industry partnerships.

It’s likely that Professor Shepley’s research and the tools that our panelists use have played a role in bringing about these changes. The panel will discuss the impact of academic research on space management and design and the importance of data analytics for space planning. Panelists will share thoughts on the implications of using technology for health care space and design programs and what technology can’t replace—consensus-building, decision-making skills, and the human connection.

CIHF Roundtable
This panel moderated by David Schless, President of the American Seniors Housing Association, brought together seven experts to discuss the career paths that lead them to work in senior care and how their personal passions relate to the industry. Additionally, the panel answered questions regarding how to instill passion in young people for the senior care industry, addressing the issue of how the baby boomer generation will impact senior care and living, and the numerous entrepreneurial and career opportunities in the industry.
