Laura Barré

Laura Barré, MD, RD, is a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell.

Dr. Barré’s research interests include successful aging and the development of interventions that address obesity, mental health and nutritional status in older adults to delay and/or prevent nursing home placement. Currently, she is studying the implementation and outcomes of a technology-assisted aging in place program, Full Circle America, in Steuben County, NY.

Dr. Barré teaches the two-semester Applied Anatomy and Physiology course within the Post Baccalaureate Program in Health Studies in the Division of Nutritional Sciences. She provides mentoring on health careers to Cornell undergraduate students and those within the post-baccalaureate program.

Dr. Barré graduated from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in 2001 and completed an NIH T32 postdoctoral fellowship in geriatric mental health in 2011. Prior to medical school, she earned a B.S. in nutrition from Cornell University, completed a dietetic internship at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA and practiced as a clinical registered dietitian for 4 years, with a focus on geriatrics.
