To keep occupied during the winter break, a period when many Cornell students are away, Eric Szymczak, a chef at the Statler Hotel, aimed to do more than simply discard leftover items.

“I’m more of a cook, not an organizer, so I reached out to [food and beverage management lecturer] Heather Kolakowski, I know she’s involved with Loaves and Fishes and a lot of other charities, and I just said to her ‘can you point me in the right direction?’ then she reached out to Cornell Hunger Relief and some community charities,” Czymczak said.

Heather Kolakowski is the Executive Director of CIHF and a senior lecturer at the Nolan School of Hotel Administration. Additionally, Heather serves as President of the Board of Loaves & Fishes.
