Douglas Morrice holds the Bobbie and Coulter R. Sublett Centennial Professorship in Business. He is also Professor of Supply Chain and Operations Management. Dr. Morrice teaches courses in Operations Management and Logistics and Inventory Management in the Texas McCombs BBA Program. He served as the McCombs Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs from 2019-2021, Department Chair of the Information, Risk, and Operations Management Department from 2007-2011, and Director of the Texas McCombs Supply Chain Center of Excellence from 2002-2016.

Dr. Morrice received his Ph.D. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University. His research includes the modeling and analysis of service operations, risk management, and supply chain management. Dr. Morrice’s research has received funding from SAP America under the University Alliance Research Grant Program.  Additionally, he was a Visiting Research Scientist for Schlumberger from 1996-1998. He has worked on projects with Applied Materials, Bechtel, Dell, ExxonMobil, HEB Grocery Company, Hilti, Schlumberger, the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, and the University Health Sciences Center, San Antonio, His healthcare work has been funded by a University of Texas Systems grant and a Texas Catalyst grant. From 2018-2021, Dr. Morrice served part of a development and teaching team for a new Master of Science in Health Care Transformation that is joint between the McCombs School of Business and the Dell Medical School. Dr. Morrice’s supply chain work on materials management in the construction industry has been funded by the Construction Industry Institute (https://www.construction-institute.org/scriptcontent/index.cfm).

Dr. Morrice has over 80 technical publications and 2 patents. His research has appeared in Management Science, Operations Research, IISE Transactions, Journal of Production and Operations Management, Association for Computing Machinery Transactions on Modeling and Computer Simulation, European Journal of Operational Research, and Interfaces. Dr. Morrice has served as a senior editor for the Production and Operations Management, an editor-at-large for Interfaces, and an area editor for IIE Transactions on Healthcare Systems Engineering. Dr. Morrice served as a Proceedings Editor for the 1996 Winter Simulation Conference, the Program Chair for the 2003 Winter Simulation Conference, and as a member of the Winter Simulation Conference Board of Directors from 2004 to 2012. He is a member of INFORMS and the Production and Operations Management Society. He has designed and delivered executive development programs on operations modeling and supply chain management for a number of organizations including Chevron, PwC, Schlumberger, and Texas Instruments, and for an open enrollment program offered by the McCombs School of Business.
