Alex Carter

Alex Carter is a certified Physician Assistant, and serves as the Director of Population Health for Molina Healthcare. Previously Alex worked for Presbyterian Healthcare Services’ Innovation Hub, an arm of the organization at the intersection between healthcare and innovation.  Alex was the clinical counterpart to the Chief Digital Officer, and provided clinical, analytical, project sponsorship and adoption support to the Innovation Hub’s day-to-day activities. In her role with the Hub, she was a key player in the initiations of asynchronous visits at PHS, expanding telemed services, implementing TytoCare remote physical exam devices across New Mexico, crafting a new kind of Medicare Advantage product, and developing a new Medicare Advantage drop-in wellness center attached to a full senior-focused primary care clinic. By leasing space in high-traffic retail space, Alex and team were able to embed healthcare services in recognizable and accessible spaces rather than traditional “healthcare” spaces. Blending healthcare and hospitality aims to lower the barriers necessary for patients in our community to find care and support in less intimidating environments. Alex has also worked full-time clinically, and helped build that department’s first telehealth service, Online Visits, where she still practices today. Alex was raised in Vancouver, BC, where she was a professional voice actor for 12 years before moving to the US for school.  After graduating from Physician Assistant school in Philadelphia, she moved to New Mexico in 2017 to join her husband at Kirtland AFB and has never looked back! Alex has a 5-year-old daughter named Scout, a mean cat named Abby, and enjoys pottery and tending her vegetable garden.
